Pete Davidson is getting real about the scrutiny he’s faced over his love life.
Ever since his whirlwind five-month romance with Ariana Grande in 2018 — during which they got engaged — the SNL alum’s dating habits have been headline-making, and now, he’s finally opening up about how hard that’s been to navigate.
“It was pretty humiliating and upsetting, honestly,” Davidson, 31, told Page Six.
As he aptly pointed out, “Everyone is dating everyone and it’s Hollywood,” he said, referencing Paul Mescal, Timothée Chalamet and Barry Keoghan as examples of other stars in his age range experimenting with dating.
“But because I’m ugly, they wrote about me. I was harassed for like, five years and it made my life a living hell,” he said.

Davidson continued of the scrutiny, “It’s embarrassing because you want people to write about your work. I was one of the youngest-ever cast members on SNL and all that got pushed to the side because of who I was dating.”
When it comes to his romantic history, the comedian described his past as “some pretty adult relationships with some pretty amazing women,” and he said that his breakups have all been drama-free. “When it’s ended, it’s been cool.”
After his brief engagement to Grande, 31, he was linked to Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley and Kaia Gerber, then dated Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, followed by a nine-month relationship with Kim Kardashian. He later dated his Bodies Bodies Bodies costar Chase Sui Wonders for more than a year.
He was most recently linked to Madelyn Cline, from whom he split in July 2024. He told the outlet of his current relationship status: “Over the last six months, I’m not dating. I’m starting to turn my life around.”

A source told PEOPLE in October that Davidson is “still friends with pretty much all his exes,” to the extent that he and Kardashian, 44, “still talk occasionally.”
“He’s a good guy, and they root for him,” the source said.
Some light was also shed on his split from Cline, 27. “Nothing bad happened between him and Madelyn. It just ran its course,” the source said.
